OK, we have yet another great example of abuse when it comes to the nice people who make all the laws in Cache Valley. Now the County wants to indemnify the property along canals and other so called trail areas within the County. Why? Not to help the PRIVATE PROPERTY OWNER! They have a different plan in mind. The County and City want to get together and discuss trails again for the 100th time! They want to have a trail system or better yet, take over people’s private property so a few Liberal Naturalists and ill informed American Citizens who do not understand the Constitution can have even more recreation. This is just flat out wrong!

Each private property owner should hire their own Attorney in the event that the County or City end up using Eminent Domain. If 200-500 people each had an Attorney with a different civil action per land owner, it would break the City or County.

This just makes me so upset. We live in America for crying out loud!!! When the H E double L are these law makers going to quit?!!!!!!

What puzzles me more than anything is the fact that most of these local law makers who are forcing us to practice Socialism and/or Marxism are members of the LDS faith and have been taught or at least should have been taught to protect the Constitution of the United States of America. The LDS faith officially believes strongly in the Constitution. Believe it or not, there is a major big difference between the Law of Consecration and Socialism! I have had a few select members who hold office approach me and say that practicing Socialism is practice for living the Law of Consecration at some future point. They really believe this garbage! They couldn't be more wrong. As an active member myself, I will give you one major fundamental difference between the two. The Law of Consecration is a Law you practice out of your own free will and out of Love. You are not strong-armed into practicing it with an iron fist.

Socialism or “Social Equality” on the other hand forces everyone who works hard to give the Government most if not dang near all of their hard earned money. In return, the Government will guarantee all of the services, housing, food, recreation and anything else THEY think you will need. There supposedly will be no need to worry about health care, food, entertainment, recreation and so on. There will be no risks you will need to take, everything will be provided. You will be protected from yourself. Your wealth will be distributed out “equally” to everyone. You will get the same as everyone else. Eventually, you will stop working hard. You will stop trying to progress by taking Business risks because you don't see the reward. You stop paying your Taxes because you no longer make any money, just like everyone else. That so called wonderful “Social Equality” program goes insolvent and everyone has nothing anyway or ends up living like they live in Afghanistan, France and other parts in the World while the corrupt socialists and Professors who made the laws, live it up well. Just look at the protests in France right now, great example of Socialism! Those people want to get all the benefits of employment without any accountability whatsoever.

Socialism and Marxism basically do and provide everything in a very limited sense. There is no freedom to succeed to the sky and beyond. There is also no freedom to fail. There really is no freedom to do anything when it comes down to it. Sounds kind of like the plan someone else had in the beginning.  It is all about control over the people. Karl Marx who wrote the Communist Manifesto stressed the importance of attacking private property ownership(Property Tax, Making Private Property Public owned).

Why this big rant about Socialism and Marxism? It comes back to the Parks and Trails issue around here. I want to keep and have rights to say what will go on my land. I want to be the King of my own private property. I don't want to impact another person's land so I can have a park or trail. I don't want someone to pay a higher percentage on their Taxes so I can have free, public transportation, recreation, broadcasting, health care, education (liberal indoctrination), and on and on and on!

I was told by someone at the County and at BRAG (Bear River Association of Governments) that "we need to become more community involved as citizens and share for the good of the community." I say, if people want to do that, fine! You do it, and if I want to participate, I will participate. If I don't want to participate, I won't! That should be my CHOICE!

The people we have elected around here, Democrat or Republican, need to put Original American values first. We are a Capitalist Nation! Instead of Taxing Businesses, property and Individuals to death, see to it that those things are protected. Give us more of our own hard earned money back. We can better take care of the poor ourselves. As private citizens, we can make the community as a whole better than a bloated porky pig of multi level, ever increasing Bureaucracy! I don't want their services!

Some so called Republicans around here need to get back to the original values of the Republican Party. If they can't do that, maybe they need to flip and call themselves Democrats. That's how they vote already! Just change to Democrat and make it official!

A Republican is supposed to be CONSERVATIVE both fiscally and socially!!! Get it together or get out! 

There will be a meeting sometime in April 06 at the North Logan Library on this Cache County Trail proposal. I don't know the date as of yet. If someone reads this, maybe they can post the dates and times so we can get the word out and make it to the public hearings.

I do not want more public owned pork! Especially at the expense of the Tax payer and PRIVATE PROPERTY OWNER! The Government already owns or controls way way too much land as it is. Will save the “Open Space” or “Government controlled space” BS for the next time around

The times for the trail and bike route public workshops are:

Tuesday, April 4, at the Hyrum Civic Center (83 W. Main) or

Wednesday, April 5, at the North Logan City Library (475 E. 2500 North ).

Residents may attend either of these workshops between 6 and 8 p.m.

Any private property owner who is concerned about this should attend and get this information out to as many people as possible.

I'm sure the people who want free recreation at the expense of your private property rights will all be out in full force.

"Officials seek public input on future of local trails

hile Saturday’s annual National Trails Day isn’t a holiday that warrants much celebration, it does provide an opportunity for local residents to experience the great outdoors by helping to extend trails, control weeds and participate in a countywide trails survey.

Sponsored by the Cache County Trails Coalition and Bear River Association of Governments, the Logan Ranger District is seeking volunteers to help extend the singletrack trail up Green Canyon and clean campsites and trails along the way on Saturday at 9 a.m.

Additionally, in response to the 2004 Cache County survey that found trails to be the top desired community and recreational amenity for the future, the county is seeking additional participation in a trails survey to help plan future trails in the valley. Headed by Cache County Trails Coordinator Tim Watkins, the questionnaire seeks to understand why trails are important and focuses on the types of recreational activities desired with a future countywide trails network.

Preliminary results of the study, ending June 15, show public interest in trails to increase pedestrian and cyclist safety, promote individual and family-oriented recreation and encourage active living. Watkins said some of the top desired activities thus far include hiking and biking access to mountain areas and public lands, paths connecting recreation and parks, as well as access to other natural areas such as river corridors.

“It is important to remember that trail access to natural areas doesn’t mean trail access in natural areas,” Watkins said. “Oftentimes that means visual access - not physical. We don’t want to disturb wildlife feeding or breeding.

“We work hard to carefully balance visual and physical access of trails.” Sean Damitz, program administrator of Utah Conservation Corps, said UCC has been working with the Forest Service for five years to help the community get involved in maintaining local trails.

“There are multiple reasons why community trails are so important,” Damitz said. “They promote good health, so we can stay in better shape and keep the air clean. Trails also keep our minds and bodies happy and healthy, and a good trail system attracts people to the area that care about the environment.”

As trail-goers hike and bike, Lisa Perez, conservation education coordinator for Logan Ranger District, said it is vital to use them appropriately.

“If we use the trails when they are wet and muddy, it causes soil erosion, ruins our trails and disrupts vegetation,” she said. “I hope folks will stay off the trails when they are wet, and stay on the trails instead of cutting through switchbacks the rest of the time.”

Keeping campsites clean and pulling noxious weeds like Dyer’s woad are important tips to a healthier recreational environment as well, she added."

I get so sick of these little "feel good" writeups that the Herald Journal does! It seems like Cache County, Logan City and any other government run institution around here that starts out with the name of "Bear River ..." are always finding ways to screw us over. The Herald Journal likes to talk them up so the public will go along with it. Yes, we all know where the Herald Journal stands on the issue! The "open space" thing is a bunch of garbage and we don't need any more trails! Both of these ideas violate private property rights.

It hits even harder when you own some land that they are trying to get their hands on. They want to make a public trail on some of my land. One of the great things America has to offer is that of private property and private property rights. The sad thing is that Cache County and Utah is under Republican control yet we have people in office who act more like Marxists. Utah is one of the worst violators of private property in the Country. This is sad, being as principled as we should be as a people, we should know better than that. It is time to reform the Republican party within. I personally know people here in Logan who use to be Democrats and changed to Republican so they could get into office because they wouldn't win otherwise. The party is infiltrated by those who don't practice traditional American values. This whole "Cache Vision 20xx" thing is a fine example of what I'm talking about. You know that its scary when people in Cache Valley sit on the land use committee and make statements such as "your not really owning your land, just a lease of it when your pay property Taxes."
