After a few days being down, it looks like the website is back up and running, and with some changes.  Perhaps the most noticable is in the editing windows where there are some different editing options.  It looks like spellcheck is still missing (except for Firefox 2.x users!) but there's a special character option (⇔!) and a few that appear to be tied to some advanced HTML tags.

Also stylin' is the new favicon, which some people may notice in the address bar, on the tabs, or in the bookmarks for the site.  All the cool kids have one.

Thanks for the upgrade!

Your welcome Fiery Darts!

There is much more yet to come. The whole site won't be down like it was when the next updates happen. Stay tuned!

I've noticed a few other things.

When in the post editing window, a right click only brings up a basic cut/copy/paste menu. This, aside from being thoroughly useless (it only pops up a window where you still have to manually paste!), prevents the use of the context menu for the browser, which effectively kills the Firefox spell checker.

The other thing that I have found is that if the post window has remained open for too long (e.g. 15 minutes or so), then the entry will not post when the "submit" button is hit. This can be fixed by hitting the refresh button on the browser (which for me did not cause my post to disappear) and then submit. This is a little annoying to those of us who spend a while writing our posts. On a related note, I've had trouble with the browser remembering my login, which was never a problem prior to the recent update. (Are the cookies set to expire after only a short while, or are they session specific? I tend to have several browser windows/tabs open at once and this site may be included in several places.)

I figure that these may be some new quirks of the latest update and I'll get used to some of them. For most users, they may not even notice these things. For each of these things, I've found workarounds (spelling can always be checked by pasting the entry into a browser that has a spell check feature, which may give the added advantage of a grammar check).

Might I either get my own forum or might you combine a bunch of the forums into a general politics forum so that I can stop hijacking Mr. Mulholland's blog?
