Please don't confuse me with the facts.
According to recent research by Bill Chapman of the Polar Research Group of Univ. of Illinois (Champaign/Urbana) the net sea ice from both poles has increased by 1 million square kilometers. http://arctic.atmos.uiuc.edu/cryosphere/IMAGES/global.daily.ice.area.withtrend.jpg
Although it is true that the Arctic ice has decreased the Antarctic ice increase has more than made up the difference. Since anthropomorphic global warming theory indicates that both poles should melt this is further evidence of the problem with this theory. Additionally, the troposphere temperatures should increase towards the upper troposphere, but the evidence from both satellites and balloons does not support his as well.
If you pay attention to the pro people whenever they talk about the Antarctic ice melting they only talk about a very narrow and specific region on its peninsula which is effected by local conditions. In today’s HJ (1/3/07) there is another letter from a true believer who contends that world crop production is suffering (without any evidence) to support this claim. If the Chicken Little theory is correct overall crop production should increase for two reasons. First, more farmable area would become available further north. In addition plants can use up to six times the current atmospheric levels of CO2. This should lead to vast overall increases in world wide crop production. In addition this theory should mean increases in rain because the heating of the earth would produce more clouds.
Another thing is that they are always talking about solutions which will occur in the future. Have you ever noticed that in the real world very few technologies predicted turn out as well as claimed? Logan City will suffer a true power shortage within the next two decades because of the shortsightedness of the previous city council. I haven’t seen any evidence that the talked about geothermal system in Box Elder County, which they said could make up the difference is even in the planning stages. It takes at least eight years for such plants to come on line after construction begins. So remember to thank Needham and Taylor when we suffer brownouts. Let’s hope that the current council will find another source of reliable energy shortly.
