A CALL TO ACTION!
To Protect and Defend…
Whenever a government official is sworn into office, they almost always swear to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. I submit almost all of them are guilty of failure to honor their oath and are not legally entitled to hold office or conduct State business. The foremost important obligation of the Government is to protect this country. It seems a no brainer to me that controlling the border should be high on the list. Before I would agree to any kind of amnesty program for illegals I would want to insure that twenty years from now we are facing the same problem again but with 30 million illegals instead of the 12-16 million (no one knows the exact number) that we are now facing. Remember, in the 1980’s we granted amnesty to approximately 3 million illegals and nothing was truly done about protecting our border. There are two factors which prevent our government from enforcing our laws. One is votes. Mostly the Democrats but many Republicans as well are deathly afraid of alienating so many potential voters. The other is economics. Cheap labor appeals to business. It is the one factor for which they have the least amount of control.
Of course, John Q taxpayer is always stuck with the bill. Illegals now, cost a tremendous amount of tax dollars for education of their children. Medical care, higher educational costs, additional police protection and jail facilities, etc. are the direct result of our governments failure to control our southern border. Although many are law abiding citizens and work very hard, many are not. I submit that a disproportionate number of violent crimes occur in this valley from the illegal element. It is not racist to want to have a functioning society whose members obey its laws.
I do not know if you know much about Mexico. First of all they have people trying to cross their southern border (mostly trying to get to the states). They do not treat this people at all well. They are often held in squalid conditions for months on end. Mexico also has a true underclass of citizens who are not granted the same rights, because of their ancestry. These people are mostly descendants of African Slaves which were brought over in a similar manner to our former slaves. They do not have the right to vote or many other civil rights. Mexico has many natural resources and should be able to compete successfully in the world economy. Unfortunately, graft and corruption, crime, as well as idiotic socialist government policies make doing business difficult for the average Joe. Importing much of your problem to the states does nothing in the long run to fix these problems. The United States should be insisting that true reforms occur instead of taking their frustrated citizens.
