A Call to Action!
Propaganda II
In today’s HJ (6/23/06) on page one is an article titled “Humans to blame for hottest Earth in millennia.” Just as you never read about any thing positive occurring in Iraq the media will never give a balance picture over the issue of global warming. First it is important to know that the one thing certain about climates is that they are always changing. Today’s report about a congressional study (produced by the National Academy of Sciences) about climate change is that it exaggerates half of the story and ignores the other half. For years proponents of anthropomorphic warming have relied on the so called hockey stick model created by Michael Mann with secret data which he refused to allow anyone else to review. Yesterdays report actually discounted this model and gave good reasons why. Also it is important to note that all of the worst case scenarios regarding global warming are based upon computer models. These models have never proven to be accurate and cannot predict near term weather phenomenon let alone long term scenarios. Another thing often ignored is both the ninth century warming period and also the little ice age which occurred some 300 years ago. If you read the AP article please notice that they started at 400 years and compared temperatures to today’s (the actual NAS study viewed climate history for 2000 years). So they started from an unusually cold period when crops died and many starved to the warming trend we see today. No mention of increased sun radiation (which is the most likely culprit) or that the world’s actual temperatures have been decreasing since 1998. In this same report the scientist’s state that there are “substantial uncertainties” regarding Mann’s claims that the last few decades of the twentieth century warmest in 1000 years. This is exactly what the AP article claims. You have to wonder if they read the same report that was presented to Congress. The report further chastises Mann by declaring “Even less confidence can be placed in the original conclusions by Mann et al. (1999) that the 1990’s are likely the warmest decade and 1998 the warmest year, in at least a millennium…”
Also they mentioned the increased warming of the North Atlantic which they attribute to increased hurricane activity. If global warming were true why would this warming occur only in the North Atlantic? Logically ocean warming should be increasing all over the world. Numerous experts on hurricanes have repeatedly stated the hurricanes follow a periodic pattern. The pattern we are currently seeing is similar to that which occurred in the 1930’s. Also note that current temperatures in the Arctic and drought in the SW are following a very similar pattern which occurred during the 30’s (ala the dust bowl). Climatology is a very difficult and extremely complex science of which we are just beginning to learn. I would be far more willing to believe these so called scientists (who are dependent on government grant money to survive) if they hadn’t been predicting a new ice age during the mid 70’s. This report represents a 1degree Fahrenheit change in temperatures for the entire twentieth century. They fail to mention that there is no evidence what so ever that the world’s oceans have risen even one centimeter or that the Antarctic has actually cooled during the 5-10 years.
One sided reporting is far more indicative of an activist agenda than objective reporting. But of course liberal bias of the media is just a red herring put out by talk radio at least according to most liberals.
