A CALL TO ACTION!
Smoke and Mirrors (II)
I have just given the latest Senate Bi-Partisan Intelligence Committee report a cursory read and it is the same song and dance that the Intelligence Community has been spinning for years now. There are no new arguments or information within this tome. To me it seems more about covering the intelligences communities’ posterior and as a further weapon to use against the Bush Administration (during election time) and our war on terror. You can already hear the cackles emanating from Democratic side of the isle and it is the usual players. Senators Durbin and Rockefeller can hardly contain their glee. What one must understand about government and its functions is that they will cover each others behind before they will reveal the truth. This might seem contrary to our so called adversarial system but believe me one hand scratches the others back.
One of the main lessons that Congressmen and women learn is that it does not pay to make enemies and if you want to stay in the game then you had better play along. A case in point is the Barrett report. This is a report which was filed by a special prosecutor who was charged with investigating the illegalities of Secretary Cisneros (HUD) of the Clinton Admin. Because of stonewalling and other tricks the Clinton Admin. dragged this investigation on for so long that much of the crimes became mute (statue of limitations). Over one hundred pages of this BEEPing report were censored by a Federal Judge and two Republican’s help keep this information quiet. This whole issue involved abuse of power by both the Justice Department and the Internal Revenue Service. So much information is covered up and ignored by the Major Media in this country it makes me sick. If the American people actually knew how things actually work they would vomit.
Recently a bill was introduced which would require much more transparency for Federal spending and earmarks. This bill has been quietly killed by Ted Steven’s ( R- AK: of the bridge to nowhere fame) and the king of pork himself Robert Byrd (D-WV). Unfortunately, we have far too many career politicians serving in Washington and not enough really concerned citizens to take care of them.
