In Defense of Free Speech!        

            I find it highly ironic that a movement that began by fighting for free speech (the New Left) has now become its greatest enemy. All over America colleges and universities are being sued (and almost always losing) by students and their supporters for suppression of their First Amendment rights (Speech Codes). And of course the ACLU who is supposed to be our greatest supporter of free speech is nowhere to be found. A recent mob action at laceName w:st="on">ColumbialaceName> laceType w:st="on">UniversitylaceType> is a case in point. The founder of the minutemen project (Jim Gilchrist) was driven off the stage by a mob, at a recent speaking event sponsored by the Young Republicans. This is not an exception or unusual occurrence. Things like this happen all over the United States. What is truly pathetic is that most college administrators will not take any action to protect the rights of the speaker and his audience and will often punish the victims. Some of the most outrageous examples are to be found in the Bay Area (where the free speech movement began).

            You see leftists to not really believe in the Bill of Rights. They have demonstrated this time and time again. They only use it as a tactic to silence their opponents and to get their way. I am becoming increasingly frustrated with the majority of Americans who seem perfectly content to lose all of the rights and advantages which have been hard fought over since the American Revolution as long as they can watch football on TV and swill beer. Perhaps we as Americans do not deserve to survive. For too long we have allowed our minds to be poisoned by the agents of Satan. Our entertainment has become more violent and shows less and less restraint from enforcing standards of decency. Democracy can only survive and flourish if it serves a moral people. While I have plenty of criticisms for the Republican Party and its agents there still is a clear distinction between them and the Democrats who are clearly destroying this country. It is no accident that religion is being attacked and slowly marginalized. They are doing everything within their power to ensure that we lose the war in Iraq which will only embolden our enemies and insure greater and greater violence across the world.

            The stakes could not be greater or the choices more plain. It should be very clear to all those who are watching that keeping their position in Washington is far more important than doing the right thing and protecting America. We are slowly becoming a bankrupt nation where doing what feels good and enjoying oneself is far more important than maintaining the greatest force of good that the world has ever seen. It is already too late for Western Europe. By turning their backs to God they have sealed their own fate. The issue though has not yet been decided for America but everyday we dawdle the odds get worse. Are you really doing your part to defend liberty?
