I was in several Easter Egg hunts today and last week.  The one done by the North Logan Library was very well done.  People pre-registered so they new how many were coming.  They did it outside and had plenty of eggs for people to get 3 each.  They even had a craft.  The one at the mall was terrible.  I imagine that they had 5-10 X what they expected.  There were hundreds of children, and this was just the under 3 group.  They did it in the food court so it was very cramped and hard to maneuver.  They set the limit at 5 but each of my kids only got 1.  They also had different times for different ages.  This was a mistake because many families have kids that fit in several age groups.  Who wants to keep coming back?  Better luck next year.  In contrast, Lees did a very good job.  People went from station to station and eventually got a mystery prize.  It was fun and a lot of people showed up.  I actually went to the WalMart one but was a bit late but they gave each of my kids a bag of candy.  I would suggest that they look at how Farmington does theirs at Woodland Park.  It is a big open area and different areas for different ages.  It is very well organized and despite many hundreds of people it is fun.

I seem to remember when they did more Easter Egg hunts than they do now. The kids love it. Easter is one of my more favored times of the year.

Do you know when and where each of them are. This would be good information to know for the "Local Events" section for next year.

I'm really annoyed at what the holidays have turned into since I was a kid. I really hate it how they are now doing easter egg hunts inside the mall and wal-mart. How boring is that? Remember how Easter is supposed to be about the resurection and how everything blooms and comes back to life? The easter egg hunts should be outside! Now it seems it's only about getting a bag full of free candy. More thought should be put into these hunts so that kids understand why they are there - which shouldn't be just for greed. They might as well start doing an Easter Trunk or Treat. Not!!! I hate those too! All the fun has been taken out of everything. If you're really worried about your kids going trick-or-treating then you should go with them and only go to people you know (such as grandparents, ward members, cousins, etc.)  To me- trick-or-treating should be about visiting those you care about and as a bonus the kids get some candy.
