Get us out of the UN!
I do not know what is more frustrating. The failure of the Major Media to cover the UN fairly (not ignore its failures and abuses), or the fact that we as American citizens pay at least 22% of its operating costs. This works out to about 87 Billion dollars a year. Despite abysmal failure after abysmal failure, those in our government and liberals of all persuasions seem hell bent on keeping us in the UN even though it routinely undermines our country and attacks Israel (the only democracy in the region) while ignoring all of the faults of the rest of Arabia. From the so called Human Rights Commission to the Oil for Food program you and I pay a huge share for the privilege of constantly being ridiculed, and our foreign policy undermined while countries like Sudan continue to murder and rape millions of its own citizens without a peep from this commission.
In fact, the UN still has not condemned terrorism, mostly because the Arab League blocks any meaningful definition. How many of you know that the United States still has troops in the Sinai? And we all know what a fantastic job the UN’s commission on atomic energy has done preventing proliferation of WMD’s. Other than a few programs like the World Health Organization (at very high costs, mind you) do any good whatsoever. But talk to a liberal about getting us out of the UN and their head will seem to explode. Liberals love the UN. It can do not wrong. Look at what a great job has been done in Africa. Despite the spending/gift of approx. 1.7 trillion dollars since the 1950’s things are worse there then ever. So what to the bleeding hearts want? Us to spend more money helping those poor unfortunates. All we end up doing to making a few despots richer. Now the UN is proposing a different way to tax international travel and money exchanges which is estimated will bring in approximately 870 billion dollars a year. That is, in addition, to the usual dues which each country is required to pay.
This June the UN is holding a special world wide conference, where they are proposing a new gun control scheme. They want to several restrict your ability to buy and own a firearms. They actually say with a straight face that our guns are part of the problem with illegal gun smuggling throughout the world. Of course the countries police and military would be exempt. So gun running in Zimbabwe is our fault! Much of the funding for this effort is coming from our old pal George Soros. He also funded much of the campaign which lead up to the McCain/Feingold incumbent protection act. What a deal! Where do I sign up?
